Day 121: A little rain and many day hikers

Last night, the rain got stronger and at 1:30 am, I had to re-tighten and fix my tent. When my alarm woke me at 6 am, it was raining, windy and dark. So I decided to wait for the rain to stop.

When I finally started hiking, the sky did not look too bad and after a bit of uphill in the forest, I took off my raingear and pullover. There was more up through Juniper, but luckily somebody had cut open the trail. Before reaching my highest point of the day, I wanted to get some water that was even marked. The piped spring was dry and the water next to it was full of cow shit. So I decided to stay thirsty a little longer. On Mt. Rusovatets, it was very windy, so I quickly continued down over the ridge. I passed Mazalat hut and not long after, there were lots of day tourists. I encountered many more throughout the day!!!

After some lovely beech forests and leaving the Central Balkan National Park, I came to a piped spring and had a lunch break. I actually had eaten most of my lunch already, since I started being hungry again at 11 am!

The rest of the day were mainly forestroads with a few open areas. The weather became worse. While in the morning it rained just a few drops, it rained a little more in the afternoon and was foggy. So I decided to set up my tent early in a beech forest again (this time a better spot), still far enough away from Shipka pass  where there are a big road, probably lots of tourists and large electrical overland lines.
