Greece - Day 39: Resting in Karpenisi

Nothing spectacular today!

The morning looked nice and sunny, but soon some clouds came in. I started late (after having peas for breakfast ;)) from my campsite above the road and walked into town.

I had to wait a bit for my room to be ready but still nice, since the check-in time is normally 2 p.m.

The usual things: washing cloths, taking a shower, charging electronics, airing out my sleeping bag and using the internet.

I had a balcony with a nice view, but it was cold and windy, so I spent my day inside, resting and trying to research, how my journey could continue, when my foot is better. So far, it still hurts :(

The current plan is to switch countries. While I wanted to hike Albania after Greece, I am now very hesitant because of the dog problems there. It might still be fine for another 2 weeks, but then people, sheep and guarding dogs will be in the mountains and after my experience in Romania last year, I am sure I won't be able to enjoy my time in the mountains.

So the idea is: instead of having to wait more days for my foot to heal and then hiking the rest of Greece, I will use my time "resting" to get to Italy! It takes only 2 days, but the bus from here leaves on Mondays only, so it gives me a lot of rest days!

In Italy, I want to continue North on the Sentiero Italia, which I had started last autumn. I hope my foot is better until then and the guarding dogs in Italy are not as crazy as the ones in Eastern Europe :)
