Greece - Day 40: Having a hard time resting on such a beautiful day!

The weather was gorgeous today (just a bit windy), and thus it was hard to rest and do nothing! Especially because I was wondering, if I shouldn't have hitched instead of waiting for the bus on Monday... But I tried to enjoy the time resting with lots of podcasts, books and eating :)

I checked out at the hotel at noon and walked a few kilometer to another forest, just to have at least a little bit of a change ;)

On my way there, the penetrant friendly Greek passed by with his car, asking if everything was OK, since I was back and walking in the other direction. I told him I would go for a little walk, since I will have to wait for the bus on Monday.

Then I made it into the forest, but it was either steep or open, so I walked around quite a bit. On the ridge, there would have been several perfect camping spots, but also a well trotten path. Since I want to stay the entire day tomorrow and 2 nights, that's not great. So I decided to sit in the sun, listen to podcasts and give my hurting ankle a rest, thinking:  so far, I am just a hiker on a trail.

Within the few hours in the sun with lots of little white flies being everywhere in the air, only one man walking his 2 little dogs passed by, so I decided I will stay. I am hiding in the forest, not far from the trail but I think no-one will find me or be annoyed by me.

I discovered, that I even have a neighbour: on the open grassy spot next to the path, where I was sitting in the sun, I found a turtle. It is happily wandering around in a limited area and eating. I watched it for a while, when an ant was really annoyingly walking over the turtles head. Sucks when you can't just swipe it off!

My tent is set up now and I will have another entire day tomorrow of being lazy, before on Monday at 7 am, hopefully several busses and a ferry will take me to Italy. I just hope things work out the way I planned (which might end up being tight), then I could be starting hiking on Wednesday, if my foot is not too bad, but it shouldn't be anymore by then - that was nearly a week!!!

So I guess tomorrow will be another rather boring blog post :)

Yes, the balcony again!

Looking back onto yown
