Day 28: Along the border

While the morning started out sunny, I ended up in dense fog on the 1018 m high Auersberg.

Shortly after, in Johanngeorgenstadt, I did my resupply and then followed the German-Czech border most of the day. It was nice forest hiking, often along streams.

And I started another 'project'. In the store this morning, I couldn't believe my luck. I actually found a permanent marker. So I can do rock-art :) I certainly don't have the creativity and talent of my grandmother or my friend Julia, but it's fun to find rocks and then think about, what I could draw on them. So the morning passed in a heartbeat.

The afternoon always seems slow. Before Tellerhäuser, the sky got very dark but I managed to find a roofed resting area when the rain started. Since it didn't look like it would clear up soon, I changed into dry socks, got my book out and ate all the chocolate, that was supposed to last 3 days... After over an hour the sun came out again and I continued my hike. I even met a couple of Kammweg-hiker, who only carry a tarp and try to sleep in huts.

Then I walked up to Saxony's highest point, the Fichtelberg with 1215 m. Since its also an important skiing arra, it was not really nice. Too many ski slopes,  buildings and chair lifts. But I saw a rainbow and at least there were no people.

After a muddy hike down, I managed to take a wrong forest trail and decided to call it a day!
