Day 114: Relaxed hiking

Yesterday, there was a beautiful clear stary sky, which meant a cold night. When I finally got going around 9 am, the sun was already nice warm and the slight frost in the gras was gone.

Soon, I descended into the forest, where I met the first two of several day hikers. I crossed the road at Petrohan pass and filled up with water at a spring. There were already several people, one woman with at least 20 big water bottles, who was filling them up and putting them in her car.

I walked slightly up again, overtook some day hikers and soon was out of the forest. There was a larger drop to my left towards the valley of Berkovitsa and a light slope down to my right. Hiking was just great over these smooth hills in beautiful weather.

Before I dropped down into the forest, I took a nice lunch break in the sun. The next hours I descended about 1300 m, mostly on some 4WD tracks and roads. I wanted to camp before Lakatnik town, but everything was steep and houses began earlier than I expected. So I climbed up a hill above town and found a nice spot in tall grass. Not too bad, but a bit noisy with dogs, motor chains, the train, cars and so on. At least it shouldn't get too cold at this low altitude :)

Despite this short hiking day, I managed to make dome km, thanks to all the descends. Tomorrow I'll pass the last shop on trail for a while and then I have to walk up again with all the food...

Kom Emine Trail - sometimes marked very well, other times not so much
