I got on the boat, entered a sofa and read until we started. The sea was not crazy rough, but rough enough for my stomach to be unhappy. So I slept a lot! Eating and reading didn't really work and the weather was not nice rough to go outside or enjoy the boat ride.
The boat arrived past 11 am in Gythio and it was raining like crazy. So I was doskjng wet after walking the few hundred meters from the boat to the next roof. I hid there and talked to a couple of German bikers until the rain eased off a bit. I made it to the next supermarket to finally get some food jntk my (by then) hungry stomach.
Since the weatherforcast said rain all day also for half of the next day, until the weather would be sunny again, I decided to find a camp spot to wait for better weather.
It drizzled but I already heard the next thunderstorm, so I tried the first olive terraces I found. Bad idea: all muddy, even further up.
It was thundering again, and I knew I wouldn't make it before the next shower. Up into the next olive grove: nice terraces, but so flat that the water was standing there jn huge puddles. And there was lots of high grass. Now it was pouring and I was completely wet. So I decided to keep walking to the next olive grove. I passed some houses, the rain eased a bit and I found a decent place to camp. But too late: the next downpour happened, while I set it my tent. So everything that was not wet yet, was wet.
I started scooping out the water from my tent and drying the inside with my buff. Then I discovered that my plastic bags weren't as waterproof as I thought but at least my sleeping bag wasn't too wet. It really helps, that it's nit too cold and that I know geredet will be sending again soon.
I know you get used to this weather, if you have to (just thinking of New Zealnd...), but the first time getting everything wet on a trip is always so bad!
Let's see if I can leave already tomorrow, or if I will extend my log row of lazy days for another one ;)
