Day 41: Sun and ice-cream

I didn't take many pictures today and the ones I took aren't very good because I was stared at while taking them. So I'll write a bit.

Today was a very unexciting day. Despite a nice morning, I started late. This isn't my usual style but seems to become one... I heard already the machines harvesting wood in a forest patch, that I had passed the night before and saw some workers and more machines when I left the forest. After a few kilometers of relaxed hiking, I came to a town, where they were digging up the ground with heavy machinery, so I found my way into town walking through an allotment garden area instead. In town I went shopping (although I still had lots of food) and ate 1 L of ice-cream in the sun in the parking lot.
The trail today was only in parts in the forest. I also hiked on a busy road, through villages, towns and along a ski slope and fields. I had already seen that the route isn't really nice and had thought about taking an made up alternative route through more forests. But I was just too lazy. It would have meant several km on roads to get there plus probably constant checking of my map while hiking. It also just rained a bit, when I came to the point where I could have walked differently, so I didn't wanted to take the new route with an open road for the next km. I have to admit, that I regret my decision a bit.
However, I learnt that rubbish in Poland obviously gets separated via kommunal bins, at least in smaller towns. Every house seems to have only one bin, and then there are very few kommunal bins for plastic, paper and compost. From what I saw they are not enough for the amount of people and nobody actually separates the rubbish but everything is mixed anyways.
What's also interesting, being a mailman must be easy. All the mailboxes of one area are at one spot, with little boxes with locks for each house. Of course I didn't take a picture of that :/
But I managed to sew a few animals today, among others a red -backet shrike (Neuntöter), red kite, blind worm  and mouse, which stared at me for several minutes! And I just had the first mosquito of the season. Oh and of course a tick.
What I lacked today apart from forests, was water. So I checked all the cemeteries on my way, but cemeteries in Poland suck, if you need water... At some point I hiked a short bit through a forest and found a trickle of water! Soooo nice to sit in a quiet forest and drink fresh water!
Just before camping early again in order to read one of my many books that I carry around,  I walked up the 851 m high Chelmiec. It is obviously a very popular hike, since I saw several people hiking up. And it's total madness, how steep the trails sometimes are.  I walked down a trail, that (even without heavy pack) would have been a nightmare to walk up and I'm glad I didn't walk the other way around!
Tomorrow will probably be another 'civilized' hike, but at least the weather is much more cooperative now ;)

Yeahey, ice-cream with a flavor I've never heard of: peanuts and raisins!

Kommunal rubbish bins

Cemetery in Poland- looks nice colorful but it's all plastic, which means no water!
