Day 44: Not my day

The night before, I cowboy camped but set up my tent in the darkness, when it started to rain. Not much, but I was glad to lay in my tent, although it wasn't a good spot for a tent on a steep hill. The next morning, there was another little sprinkle, so I started rather late.

It was nice to walk in the forest, but today there were quiet a few totally harvested areas, messy tracks, fallen trees etc. Nothing bad (especially since it was dry for a few days already) but I was already a little annoyed in general.

I was tired and not very motivated, so I decided to listen to some podcasts while hiking. Not a good idea: I ended up going in a circle for about an hour! I wasn't paying much attention to where I was hiking, following the trail markers. At some point the trail was getting fuzzy thanks to lots of harvester tracks and finally the trail was blocked by a huge fence, so I took a little detour cross country and then continued following the markers. At some point I must have taken a wrong turn, which brought me back to the direction I came from. I saw the markers and followed them. I had a short moment, where things felt familiar, but going the other way, up a steep trail, I just listened to the podcast and tried to blend out my surrounding. At some point the trail was fuzzy again and I tried to evaluate in the map (using my GPS), where the trail might continue. Since the GPS on my phone works, but the direction as well as the compass aren't correct, it took me a while of walking and watching the GPS to find out, which direction is North. Of course I could have just opened my backpack, taken out my compass and looked at it. But I'm a lazy person and instead I spent 20 mins walking around in a circle to figure out North... Then I realised, that I had walked up the trail, that I detoured before! SHIT! Not my day. So back again, same game all over: around the fence and down the hill, checking my GPS constantly, not to make the same mistake again!
And the it was road-walk in the sun for an hour. Not a good thing, when you are annoyed already! But I finally reached Ladek-Zdroj, where I bought ice-cream, which helped to get into a better mood :)

And then I had a really nice evening treat: a 'shower'. I didn't really step under the water since it was freezing cold (I hate cold showers) but I washed myself quickly and it felt soooo good. I was just done, when 2 (probably Czech) guys with big backpacks passed by...

Although the sky looks good, I set up my tent tonight ;)
