Day 47: Big disappointment

When I woke up, I turned around again. But managed to leave just past 6 am, even having breakfast. I was not hungry because I had eaten LOTS of oats the day before. But I knew I would go shopping in Rymarov after about 2 h of city walking and was hoping, this way I wouldn't buy too much. Of course my plan didn't work out and I bought too much anyways. But at least I managed to buy only a normal sized ice-cream :)

Then it was hiking through fields, some forests and along smaller roads. Actually quite pleasant. But around noon I had some road walk in the sun. It's not my time of the day, I was getting cranky and my feet started to hurt from all the tarmac. So I decided to put my route through some forest and hit the trail at a spring again. At first I thought I'd take a break at the spring, but that was still far. So I was really looking forward to that forest, imagining sitting somewhere quiet in the shade, maybe even at a little stream...
When I reached the 'forest', I was incredibly disappointed and horrified. There was no forest anymore. All trees were cut down (probably due to the bark beetle) and although they had planted some new trees, it looked totally destroyed and vast. I continued hiking in the sun, thinking that the road walk might actually have been nicer, with at least some single trees on the way.

At around 2 pm, I finally reached the spring and was happy to see at least some shade and a bench. I was really tired! So I dropped my things, got some fresh and cool water and ate lots of bread with chocolate spread. I discovered that the bread I had bought, has caravay seed in it. At least it wasn't much and I didn't mind it (I actually like it on some baked things like 'Seelen' or 'Dätscher') and with lots of chocolate spread I could barely taste it :)

After a really long break, it was decision time.  Setting up the tent already closeby or continue hiking for a long time to the next forest?! Since I had been so lazy the last few days, there were not many trees around, it was getting cooler and I got energie again from all the sugar, I decided to continue. Another few hours, 2 villages and many fields later, I set up my tent on a not really nice but sunny spot, being tired but happy.

Humid hot but it stayed dry

So sad - no forest anymore...
