Day 73: Amazing ridge walk

I woke up at 5:30 and it was pleasantly warm and sunny. I skipped breakfast and put on my wet pants to have a quick start in the day. After a few puddles and wet branches, I was up on the open ridge, that I followed for hours today. I saw some motorbikes, then some people, then more motorbikes and more people. Than it dawned on me, that these are blueberry pickers. Everybody from school kid to grandmother was up and walking or driving around. So much about a quiet nice ridge walk... I couldn't believe they all were out there to pick blueberries, because so far there are really only a few ones. You can be lucky to find a bush with 4-5 ripe berries. Maybe that's the reason, that after a busy morning, it got quieter towards noon.

The ridge walk was so lovely. It was sunny but thanks to some wind and some clouds not too hot. The views were beautiful and for hours I could see Mt. Pikui approach, which was the end of my ridge walk.

On Mt Pikui I had a late lunch and was surprised about the hordes of people walking up. seems like a popular place to go.

I descended steeply through some forests and couldn't believe it, when the spring of my map turned out to be a lovely place with clean water. So far, springs have been messy and full of garbage. I got some water and continued down into a village. After passing over a big road, it was up again mainly over meadows, and with some forest bits.

There ate several settlements around, but I found a camping spot in a little hazelnut patch, accompanied by lots of mosquitos.

There are still some clouds in the valley

Breakfast break on the ridge

The furthest most little peak in the back is my goal of the day - Mt Pikui

Lunch break on Mt Pikui (1408 m)

Spring - seemed like paradies

Giant beeches along the trail

Interesting footbridge - bended metal piece

Most of the 'forest walk' was like that - pretty muddy and annoying, especially when the way around the puddles goes through stinging nettles
