Day 76: Lake Synevyr and thunderstorms

The day started beautiful. After passing a shepherds camp and some uphill, I dropped down to lake Synevyr. Not very spectacular, but I saw 2 grass snakes and the lake was full of tadpoles and little fish. There were some streams, so I got fresh water and washed myself. I am glad I was there 'early', cause this seems to be a huge tourist attraction. In retrospect, I wouldn't do a detour into that park anymore, but it was still nice.

The walk back to my original route was a long road walk, where I listened to some podcasts to pass the time.

Then I walked into the next park: the ancient and primeval beech forests of the Carpathians and other regions of Europe. Funny, it was mainly a needle forest :) Another ridgewalk but the unusual thing was, that it was a forest road with switchbacks (!!!) to get up to the ridge. So actually very pleasant hiking!

Up on the ridge there was a light breeze and clouds provided shade, which was nice. But thunderstorms were approaching, so that suddenly they were directly next to me and not long after, it poured down. Seems my rain jacket is only a joke, giving me some warmth but certainly not keeping me dry at all. I was soking wet!!!

Luckily the trail dropped down into the forest and I set up camp, since the rain didn't seem to stop. I didn't wanted to continue much further anyways, cause I wanted to stay away from town for the night.

I hope the weather will get nice again since I have many more ridges to walk - I'm certainly a good weather ridge hiker :)
