Day 84: Mt Creasta Cocosului

It stayed dry at night and there was a bit of sun in the morning.  So I was highly motivated to get the last really steep bit done to reach a plateau like area. It was very open and thus I had to pass 3 times some animals with dogs, but all very relaxed.

I passed the 'lake' Iezerul Mare, but it was just a slightly darker green spot with different vegwtation in the meadows. The sky got grey, it started ro drizzle ans although this was a nice hiking weather, i got a luttle unmotivatee. But the rain stopped and kater on I got too hot again :)

After dropping down and eating some cherries, I came to a well marked cycle path that I followed into the village of Mara. Before, there were no markers but lots of trails. As annoying as it is, it means that if you take a 'wrong' trail, you can usually get back on track on some other random trail. However, not always...

I crossed the road, and walked the marked cycle path up. Very nice and not too steep. Just a lot of open parts, so I was sweating like crazy again, as it was just past noon.

Then I reached open meadows and had to tackle with dogs again 4 times. Not as relaxed as in the morning, but not too bad. I could see my highest point of the day, the 1450 m high Creasta Cocosului. The last bit there was a very well marked trail and there was even information in English! Oh, and there were blueberries all the way up and further on, so the next hours I wasn't walking very much but eating a lot.

After the first Peak I followed the ridge until I dropped down after Gutaiul Mic, had a short road walk and then walked up a little  on the other side. Since I heard the thunder coming closer, I set up my tent. So far, it rained only a little bit but the thunderstorm is still around.

Sunrise from my campspot

Plateau - I came up somewhere from the right

Houses in this region have huge wooden entrance doors at the road, often with lots of ornaments or figures etc.

I was envying this bull - mist be nice cool :)

That's the goal: Creasta Cocosului  (1450 m)

Nearly there
