Italy - Day 11: A cold day in the tent

Not much to write today. It was super cold, windy  wet and foggy. Especially the wind and low temperatures were ugly and everything was wet when I packed my stuff. If I wouldn't have had a suboptimal tent spot last night, I wouldn't have left it today. But I wanted to get down a bit and find a more wind sheltered spot.

I started late, wearing my raingear, a hat and gloves. But it was just not nice, although it was at least some road walk and mostly under trees. When I came close to 1956 m high Montalto, I decided to change my hiking plans. The Sentiero Italia drops down nearly 1500 m, goes through some open areas, 2 villages and along lakes, before it climbs up again to about 1500 m. In this weather I decided to take a big shortcut over a little road, that stays in the forest all the time.

Before noon, the rain stopped and I decided to set up my tent, when I saw a nice and wind sheltered spot, not too far from the road. Fitst I thought, what a stupid decision, because the sun came out a little bit. But turns our it was a good decision, since not even 1 h later, it rained again. And like this, I was able to set up camp in conditions that weren't too nasty. But it's crazy, how cold it is. I wouldn't wonder if the rain turns jntk snow. Weather forecast for Montealto was rain, 2°C and strong wind gusts for today!

Nice forest, the weather not so much

A few second of sun and beautiful autumn colours
