Italy - Day 6: Windpark and chestnuts

Another very short hiking day today. I woke up early and started before 7 am, just when I didn't need my headlamp anymore. The weather forecast was: lots of rain, starting before noon. So I wanted to get at least a few kilometers in.

But I had a slow start, since the sunrise was beautiful and I stopped for pictures. Sadly, I never had a really good view, once the sun was coming out behind the clouds. After Bosco di Malabotta, I managed to hit the Sentiero Italia and followed it for a short time through an open wind park with the occasional sheep and cows.

On the map I had seen a shorter and seemingly nicer option to the Sentiero Italia, which goes through 2 villages . My new route was for the first part an official way through the wind park, the second part was probably at least in parts private, but I didn't see any "private property" signs. But I'm still not through it.

The rain came as predicted. the first shirt but heavy shower occurred at 9 am, but it still drizzled afterwards. Before noon, I passed a terrased chestnut plantation, where I set up my tent. The rain wasn't too bad, but I was passing through another windpark and wasn't sure, if I could camp there. I can hear the wind turbine already... At first I was a little annoyed, because the rain wasn't too heavy and I could have continued, but after 1 pm, it rained a lot and I was happily sitting in my tent, peeling and eating chestnuts. Actually not from the plantation I am camping in. I had known I will spend lots of time in my tent today, so I had collected some all morning, whenever I passed chestnut trees - and I passed lots of them :)

It's supposed to rain the next days as well, but not as much anymore. So I really hope I can have a "normal" hiking day at some point and make it to the mainland in 3 days.
